U.S. senator John McCain asserted Saturday that Iraq would be the second target in the war against terrorism after Afghanistan.

In a speech at the 38th security conference held in Munich, McCain said, "Iraqi President Saddam Hussein still posses a threat with his mass destruction weapons."

He added, "Iraq is ruled by a terrorist; therefore, we will set foot on Iraqi land even if it means more victims than Afghanistan."

The remarks echoed a speech by US President George W Bush who described Iraq, Iran and N. Korea as “the axis of evil,” for their alleged programs of mass destruction weapons.

Meanwhile, Chinese foreign minister, Yi Wang warned in his speech at the meeting that "the priority should be given to development issue" stressing "we must not leave any chance to close the gap between the rich and the poor."

Indian government security advisor, Brajesh Mishra asked not to focus on "Osama bin laden only, but follow all of al-Qaeda and Taliban members." He called for the peruse of all of Taliban advisors adding that India needs sufficient guarantees concerning the decline of terrorism threats around its boarders.

The conference in the Bavarian capital was held under tight security measures, with police blocking off streets several blocks away from the hotel hosting the meeting. At least 250 politicians and 150 military experts from 40 countries are taking part in the conference. (Albawaba.com)
