ALBAWABA - US President Donald Trump said on Monday that there is a "very serious" diplomatic effort to end the ongoing war in Gaza.

Trump indicated, during a meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, that the war in the Gaza Strip could have a "good end" in the next few weeks. The U.S. president further mentioned that he is "in close contact" with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and he informed him that the war must end soon.

He continued: "I think in the next two or three weeks there will be a good and decisive conclusion," then added: "I think we're doing a very good job, but the war must end."

On the other hand, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, alongside Trump at the White House, also noted, "It's never stopped. We always seek a solution, or ultimately, as the president said, we want it to end. It has to end without Hamas."

In addition, the president expressed his dismay over the latest Israeli airstrikes that targeted the Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza, leading to the death of 20 people, including at least five journalists, noting that he was unaware of the attack.
