UNIFIL reported that four Ghanaian peacekeepers were injured when their base in southern Lebanon was struck by a missile, likely launched by non-governmental entities within Lebanon.

The attack was one of three separate incidents targeting UNIFIL forces and facilities in the region today.

Despite the escalating threats, UNIFIL confirmed that its personnel remain stationed across all positions and continue to monitor and report violations of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 impartially.

This is not the first time UNIFIL has been caught in the crossfire. On November 8, Israeli forces reportedly targeted UNIFIL positions, injuring five Malaysian peacekeepers among the UN contingent in southern Lebanon.

Additionally, UNIFIL previously accused Israeli forces of damaging a UN base in Ras Naqoura by destroying a fence and part of a concrete structure with military equipment, including bulldozers and excavators.

These incidents come amidst ongoing Israeli military operations in Lebanon, which have intensified in recent weeks.

The continued Israeli targeting of UN peacekeepers raises concerns about the security of personnel tasked with maintaining peace and stability in the volatile region.
