The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) announced in Ramalah on Saturday the suspension of its membership in the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) executive committee in protest on arresting its secretary general Ahmad Saadat.
Deputy secretary general of the PFLP Abdulrahim Mallouh told the press that the front will not participate in the meetings of the executive committee until Saadat is released.
Mallouh said that keeping Saadat in custody by the security of the Palestinian National Authority could cause rifts in the national ranks.
He pointed out that the front paved the way for Palestinian and Arab efforts as well as members in the central and national council to play a role in releasing Saadat but the Palestinian leadership did not respond to these initiatives.
He said the political office of the front decided to suspend its participation in the executive committee in protest against this political arrest and called for the release of Saadat and other political prisoners. (Albawaba.com)
