ALBAWABA - Early on Saturday, French officials stopped a possible bombing at a Bank of America location in the heart of Paris by apprehending a man before the device could go off.

According to accounts quoting security sources, the incident happened on Rue de la Boétie, west of the city center, at approximately 3:30 a.m.

Shortly after the guy set up a makeshift explosive device close to the bank door, police caught him. According to preliminary research, the device was made up of a triggering mechanism and a container filled with a flammable liquid, most likely hydrocarbons.

An investigation is under progress.

The criminal investigation department in Paris has begun a thorough investigation into the event, and the matter has been turned over to France's anti-terrorism prosecutor.

More information on the suspect and possible motivations for the attempted attack has not yet been released by the authorities.
