ALBAWABA - Even though Israeli troops are still attacking Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that he is in favor of the three-phase ceasefire plan that US President Joe Biden has proposed.
According to a story published in The Times of Israel, Netanyahu said Israel supports the ceasefire proposal while discussing the current state of affairs in Gaza before to the weekly cabinet meeting. He said that the only obstacle preventing the release of captives was Hamas.
Even after Israel's assaults in Gaza resulted in massive devastation, Netanyahu made it clear that the military operations will continue "until their goals are achieved." He indicated that he was open to a partial deal in an interview with Israel's Channel 14 on June 23, but he reiterated that an outright stop to the assaults was not a possibility.
Hamas approved a ceasefire plan and informed Qatari and Egyptian authorities on May 6. Israel rejected the proposal on May 6 citing unfulfilled requirements.
On May 31, President Biden said that Israel has unveiled a fresh plan for a three-phase ceasefire. Netanyahu insisted that the Gaza attack would go on until the "specified objectives" were met, despite Biden attributing the strategy to Israel.
Netanyahu identified "gaps" between Israel's plan and Biden's June 3 speech to the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.
