ALBAWABA- The Houthi armed forces announced they targeted the Turkish ship Anadolu S in the Red Sea with ballistic and naval missiles on Tuesday, claiming the vessel violated their decision to ban entry into ports in Israeli-occupied territories.
According to the Houthi statement, the attack responded to the ship owner’s disregard for repeated warnings. “We targeted the Anadolu S with several precise ballistic and naval missiles, achieving an accurate strike, thanks be to God,” the group said.
This development comes amid heightened tensions in the Red Sea following last week’s unprecedented Houthi missile and drone assault on the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and two accompanying destroyers.
According to American naval officials, the eight-hour battle forced the U.S. Navy to retreat from the waters of the Red and Arabian Seas, marking one of the most significant escalations against the U.S. Navy since World War II.
The attack on the Anadolu S underscores the Houthis' growing operational capabilities and their willingness to challenge international maritime security in the region.
