ALBAWABA - Ismail Barhoum, a prominent member of Hamas' political bureau, was murdered in an Israeli airstrike that targeted the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, while he was getting medical attention.
Hamas accused Israel of purposefully attacking a hospital and added Barhoum's killing to an expanding list of Israeli war crimes in an official statement, calling the strike a "cowardly assassination" and a "blatant violation" of international law. The organization emphasized that Palestinians will continue to struggle in spite of such measures.
The hospital's surgical facility, which held several patients and wounded people, was struck, according to confirmation from the Gaza Ministry of Health. The men's surgical section, which had 35 beds, was totally shut down due to fires that started on the second level.
According to Gaza's health officials, more than 50 Palestinians were murdered in Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, raising the death toll since the war started in October 2023 to over 50,000.
Additionally, according to health authorities, 872 newborns less than one year old were among the 15,613 children who perished. Approximately 4,700 amputations have been recorded, 850 of which were children, and more than 25,000 damaged individuals now need long-term rehabilitation.
