Former Syrian Interior Minister surrenders himself

ALBAWABA - Former Syrian Interior Minister, Mohammed al-Shaar, surrenders himself to the Syrian authorities, according to statements he made to Al Arabiya/Al Hadath.

Al-Shaar is known as one of the most prominent figures involved in committing violations against the Syrians in the Sednaya prison in 2008.

It is worth mentioning that Mohammed al-Shaar was appointed as Minister of Interior about a month after the outbreak of the Syrian revolution in March 2011.

He was included in the lists of Western sanctions imposed on Syria since mid-2011, as he is subject to sanctions.
