ALBAWABA - A verified account under the name "Ahmed al-Sharaa" has left social media users unsure whether it was for Syria's new transitional president or a fake one.
The alleged Ahmed al-Sharaa account gained massive engagement online with over 51,000 followers in a matter of a short period. The account description reads: "Mr. Ahmed Al-Shara'a, President of the Syrian Arab Republic (Satire Account) Presidency of the Republic."
The X account earlier posted: "This is the x account for the Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic, offering updates on Presidential news and events." It only follows one X account; the Syrian Prime Minister's Office.

Many people debated whether this is the real account of Ahmed al-Sharaa who was named as the transitional president of Syria last week or not.
