The Lebanese Resistance party Hizbullah fired anti-aircraft fire Monday afternoon in the Western Galilee area of Northern Israel, near the border with Lebanon. There were no injuries reported, according to Haaretz.
In addition, there were no initial signs that shrapnel had fallen in Israeli settlements in the region. The fire was directed at Israeli warplanes.
This is the fifth time in the past month that Hizbullah has directed anti-aircraft fire at Israeli planes, but it is the first time the fire was directed at the specific Western Galilee region in Israel.
In recent incidents, shrapnel landed on the Israeli town of Kiryat Shmona and resulted in damage to property.
In the past year, Hizbullah has been opening fire at Israeli aircraft that violate Lebanon’s airspace. The Israeli violations occur on a daily basis, despite U.N and Lebanese protests. (Albawaba.com)
