The bodies of 12 foreign nationals, apparently victims of asphyxiation after their boat sank, have been retrieved from waters in the Arabian Gulf, an Iranian policeman in the southern province of Hormuzgan, Hamidreza Hashemi, told the Iranian official news agency (IRNA) on Sunday.
"It seems these people drowned after their boat capsized in a storm," he said, without revealing the identities or nationalities of the victims.
"It has not been established where the boat originated or when it started its voyage," he added.
Police have started an investigation into the mishap and a search is underway to find more probable victims, Hashemi said. (albawaba.com)
