Egyptian actor Jamil Rateb is gearing up to direct his first flick, Asfoor Al Shaware’ (Street Bird).
Rateb, who is currently in France, plans to select a prominent French actress to costar with him, according to Akhbar Al Nujoum magazine.
A nine-year-old child and Egyptian actress Mohsinah Tawfiq will also appear in the film, a French production to be shot entirely in Cairo and screened before the end of this year.
The film is about an Egyptian citizen who returns to Egypt after 40 years of life in France, and after marrying a French woman. The globetrotter is struck by the transformation of his homeland during his absence.
Rateb has chosen theater director Naser Abdel Mine’m to assist him in the direction of the film. This will be Abdel Mine’m’s second effort in this vein, following his work on the film Sukout Hansawar (Quiet, We’ll Shoot) directed by Yousef Shahin - Albawaba.com
