According to <i>Al-Fourat</i> newspaper, during her visit to Jordan, Iraq's Minister of the Environment Dr. Mishkat Al Moumin, signed a memorandum of understanding with the World Bank, which approves the Emergency Environmental Management Project. The memorandum allocates a $25 million aid to set up five important environmental projects in Iraq aimed at eliminating oil pollution in Arabian Sea, treating liquid wastes, treating medical wastes, limiting air pollution and handling pollution caused by uranium.
Minister Al Moumin, 31, is a former law professor and human rights advocate.
