Bahrain's Works and Housing Ministry assistant under-secretary for roads and sewerage Essam Khalaf Tuesday inspected the highway to Durrat Al Bahrain Resort and was briefed on its progress.
According to GDN, he also looked at the ongoing reclamation work for the flyovers. The project, which costs over BD17 million is being carried out by Ismael Khonji Consultants, High Point Randal and Sebarco WCT.
The 25km three-lane highway links Hawar Highway, north of Askar Village to Durrat Al Bahrain site at the vicinity of Ras Al Bar. It will also be part of the peripheral highway linking Bahrain to the planned causeway with Qatar.
Five flyovers will be contructed as part of the project, in addition to tunnels.
Work started last June and is expected to be completed by June 2006.
