Burgan Bank concludes summer training program
Burgan Bank announced today that it has successfully concluded the two month long summer training program. The bank hosted a graduation ceremony for both groups that interned at the bank, and who underwent extensive training across various departments within the bank.
The annual Summer Training Program by Burgan Bank which commenced earlier this month witnessed the participation of 41 students from different schools and nationalities. The training program included a mix of classroom and onsite training for students across different departments as well as branches of the bank, an effort that aims at helping them better understand the day to day dynamics of the banking industry.
The ceremony was attended by Burgan Bank senior management represented by the Group Chief Operating Officer Adrian Gostuski, Chief Investment Banking and Treasury Officer May Al-Mudhaf, Chief Risk Officer Madhusudan Rao, Chief Retail Banking Officer Muneera Al Mukhaizeem, mentors of the students and other employees. At the graduation ceremony held at the Burgan Bank head office, students were given completion certificates as a reward for their hard work and dedication.
Burgan Bank’s Assistant General Manager – Human Resources, Shireen Cooper, said: “The summer training program at Burgan Bank aims at informing the participants with the dynamics of the banking industry, and helps them become accountable for the decisions they make at a later stage in life.”
At the graduation ceremony students shed light on their experiences and stated that while most of them were nervous in the start, they eventually got to make lots of friends and enjoyed the responsibility that was entrusted to them. Students worked in various departments at the bank ranging from Branches, Call Center, Cards department.
Khaled Al Karmi a year 10 student at the Al Shaheen School said, while he was very nervous when he first joined the training program, he eventually got to make lots of friends from different nationalities and backgrounds and enjoyed the responsibilities that were given to him by his mentor. “It was a real job and it felt reqarding to be given the responsibility of handling Customer Experience Management assessment.”
Another student Paula Sequeria said, that she had never thought of banking as a career, but now would definitely consider it as an option. Working in the cards division of the bank, she said, she learnt a lot of interesting things that go behind swiping a credit card.
The summer training program reiterates Burgan Bank’s continuous social involvement as well as its commitment towards providing the right tools and opportunities for the youth to enhance their skills, an initiative that reflects the bank’s solid commitment to supporting the education sector.
