Egyptian folk singer Shabaan Abd Al Rahim stated that he did not vote in the country's People's Assembly (lower house of parliament) elections on Nov. 28. Shabaan simply said that he did not wake up early enough to cast his vote. He did say that if he had woken up early he would have gone and voted for one of the candidates.
Shabaan stated that he was going to cast his vote for the candidate representing the National Democratic Party (NDP), since he trusts this particular party and feels it is the most suited to win the most seats in the elections.
Recently, Shabaan released a song dedicated especially to Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. The song is Shabaan’s way of showing his support to the president in the upcoming presidential elections. In the song, Shabaan states that he will elect Jamal Mubarak, Hosni Mubarak’s son, if the president decides not to run.
