Over 40 animals have been taken from the devastating conditions in a Gaza Strip zoo and moved to a reserve in Jordan using the help of Four Paws group.
The group revealed that they have received the animals from the Rafah Zoo near the border with Egypt. Among the animals there were Lions, monkeys, peacocks and porcupines.
Fathy Jomaa, owner of the zoo in Rafah, southern Gaza, blamed bad economic conditions and a decade of Israeli-led blockade on the narrow coastal enclave for leaving him unable to properly feed and care for his animals.
