ALBAWABA - A huge number of New York Police Department policemen entered Columbia University following a letter by Columbia University president Minouche Shafik who requested help to dispress pro-Palestinian protesters.

Shafik said in the letter that people, protesting at Columbia University, were being led by "individuals who are not affiliated with the University". She called for "NYPD's help to clear all individuals from Hamilton Hall and all campus encampments."

According to American media outlets, at least 100 people were arrested in the university on Tuesday after pro-Palestine protesters climbed into Hamilton Hall and claimed to control it.
