ALBAWABA - According to Yedioth Ahronoth, Netanyahu's close aides disseminated video of former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant fighting a security officer at Netanyahu's office. Gallant tried to infiltrate Netanyahu's office days after the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation on October 7, 2023.
Netanyahu's counselor, Yonatan Urich, provided the footage from Defense Ministry "Kirya" headquarters security cameras in Tel Aviv. After being called for a “cabinet” meeting in an underground bunker, Gallant was refused admission to Netanyahu's office, according to the tape. Gallant was sent away from the meeting in Netanyahu's office when he arrived. The office guard denied Gallant's security people admission, resulting in a fight.
An unidentified Israeli source told Yedioth Ahronoth that Netanyahu's inner circle had tried to shame Gallant by excluding him from security meetings or restricting his decision-making. The official said, “Since when is a Defense Minister denied entry to a cabinet meeting in the Prime Minister’s office?” suggesting another effort.
A source said Netanyahu's staff may have kept the surveillance video to use against Gallant. Yonatan Urich, Netanyahu's adviser and major suspect, said, “I know nothing about this story.”
Yesh Atid Knesset member Tal Miron called the event “deeply troubling.” She said, “Do we deserve a Prime Minister running an office that functions like a criminal enterprise, leaking surveillance footage to threaten a Defense Minister and fellow party member during wartime?”
Netanyahu's office is also under investigation for reportedly having sensitive military officer personal papers. According to Israeli media, Netanyahu's allies were accused of fabricating cabinet meeting documents, which the National Police Investigation Unit is investigating.
Last week, Bild claimed that five people, including Netanyahu's security spokeswoman, were arrested for leaking confidential security data about Israeli detainees held by Palestinian forces in Gaza.
