ALBAWABA - Libyan security authorities have detained a woman accused of shooting her husband to death in Tarhuna, southeast of the capital Tripoli.

According to the Tarhuna Security Directorate, the Dawun police station received a report that the suspect, identified as (I.S.G.D), a housewife born in 1977, killed her husband (A.A.S.A) using an AK-47 rifle.

Investigations revealed that the weapon used in the crime was borrowed from a neighbor, whose husband is a retired military officer. Authorities stated that this implicates the neighbor in the incident as well.

Social media discussions suggest that the motive behind the murder was the husband’s decision to marry a second wife without the approval of his first wife.

The Directorate confirmed that the suspect and the neighbor have been taken into custody and referred to the Public Prosecutor for further investigation. The case has sparked widespread reactions across Libya, highlighting tensions related to domestic disputes and the legal implications surrounding polygamy.
