Jacob Rothschild, financier and Israel supporter, dies aged 87

ALBAWABA - Jacob Rothschild, who is a financier, died at the age of 87, his family announced in a statement. The man is the scion of the Rothschild banking family.

It is worth mentioning that Jacob Rothschild had been a great supporter of the state of Israel and the Jewish community.  

In a statement to the PA Media news agency, the family of Jacob wrote: "Our father Jacob was a towering presence in many people’s lives, a superbly accomplished financier, a champion of the arts and culture, a devoted public servant, a passionate supporter of charitable causes in Israel and Jewish culture, a keen environmentalist and much-loved friend, father and grandfather."

Pro-Palestinian activists posted the news about the death of Rothschild and wrote: "In the memory of evil globalist Jacob Rothschild who caused so much misery to the world, let’s all remember how 'his family created Israel.' Israel is a fake state created by evil globalists."

Another posted: "Thank god, the world’s free of another elite." Meanwhile, a netizen said: "Have fun in hell."

About Jacob Rothschild

He started his career at the family bank NM Rothschild & Sons in 1963. Jacob Rothschild co-founded several firms including J Rothschild Assurance Group, now St James’s Place, in cooperation with Sir Mark Weinberg in 1980.

He adored art and galleries as earlier he served as a chair of trustees at the National Gallery and the National Heritage Memorial Fund and the Heritage Lottery Fund, The Guardian reported on Monday.
