ALBAWABA - Social media is ablaze with rumors in the wake of the Syrian presidency's recent declaration that President Bashar Assad's wife, Asma Assad, has been diagnosed with acute leukemia. There were rumors circulating that she had fled the nation and others that her health was grave.

The diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia in Asma Assad was verified by the Syrian president on Tuesday. According to the press release, "After the appearance of symptoms and clinical signs, followed by a series of medical examinations and tests, First Lady Asma Assad has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia."

On Saturday, Asma Assad made an appearance in a video posted on her official Instagram account in an attempt to allay the growing allegations and calm the public. She thanked everyone in the video for the many supportive comments she has received since announcing her condition. She underlined her will to battle the illness with fortitude, perseverance, and faith. She said that the outpouring of love and support has strengthened her will to face the sickness.

Asma Assad will follow a specific treatment plan that calls for social separation and seclusion, according to the presidential statement. She will temporarily stop working directly and taking part in public events and activities as part of her recovery plan.

Following Asma Assad's prior struggle with breast cancer, from which she declared her recovery in 2019, comes her most recent health issue. That year, she said in an interview, "Thank God, my journey is completed. Thinking back on her year-long therapy for a malignant tumor in her breast found in its early stages, she said, "I have completely defeated cancer."
