ALBAWABA - On October 4, 2024, 19-year-old Semih Çelik brutally murdered two young ladies in 30 minutes, including his current and past boyfriends. In Eyüpsultan and Fatih, Çelik beheaded a victim and threw her head from the city walls of Edirnekapı.

At 3:30 PM in Eyüpsultan, butcher Çelik brutally stabbed 19-year-old Ayşenur Halil, his apparent lover. After the murder, he lured his ex-girlfriend, İkbal Uzuner, to the Derviş Ali area near Fevzipaşa Street in Fatih. After arriving, Çelik compelled her to climb the city walls. After a furious fight, he murdered her, removed her head, and hurled it over the walls before leaping to his death.

Authorities suspect premeditation of the killings after discovering a journal with sketches of mutilated human beings in Çelik's residence. In addition, documents showed that Çelik had three prior criminal crimes.

A background study revealed Çelik had serious psychiatric disorders and had been hospitalized five times at various mental health facilities, including Bakırköy Mazhar Osman, Eyüp, and Cerrahpaşa hospitals. The Turkish prosecutor is investigating how he was released despite his condition.

The forensic medicine institution released both victims' corpses. Ayşenur Halil will be buried in Kartaltepe Cemetery after his funeral at Pazariçi Mosque in Gaziosmanpaşa. İkbal Uzuner will be buried following her funeral at Fatih Mosque.
