The Israeli police Saturday arrested a young Palestinian accused of injuring two Israelis in the Jewish settlement area of Neve Yaacov in the annexed eastern sector of Jerusalem, a police source said.
The 16-year-old, who was recognized by one of the two victims said he had carried out the attacks to "avenge the death of someone dear to him" killed by Israeli soldiers and to protest at "Israeli designs on the Mosque compound," according to investigators.
The suspect, whose identity was not given, comes from the Shoafat refugee camp in east Jerusalem.
Last Saturday, a 60-year-old man suffered face wounds from a knife attack by a Palestinian who then fled.
A day earlier, a 50-year-old Israeli woman was seriously injured with several knife wounds in her back when she was in a public call box in the same area -- JERUSALEM (AFP)
