Ukraine said that an engine failure might be the cause of the crash last week of a Ukrainian cargo plane in the mountains of southern Morocco, in which all eight crew members lost their lives, according to MAP.

Serguei Borodenko, head of the press service at the Ukrainian Foreign Department was quoted by a Russian news agency as saying that the break down of one of the engines of the Russian-built Antonov cargo might be behind the plane’s crash.

People living in the Moroccan mountain areas said they had heard a change in the plane’s engines noise just before the crash, the official said.

The cargo plane crashed at 9,900 feet in the Atlas Mountains shortly after departing from Agadir, where it made a technical stop-over. (Albawaba.com)
