UAE Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Saif bin Sa’ed stated that the UAE would take part in the upcoming ministerial meeting of donor countries for the re-construction of Afghanistan. The UAE will be represented by its Ambassador to Japan in the meeting due to be held in Tokyo, on January 21-22.
According to Emirates News Agency, this was announced Wednesday, during a meeting between Sa’ed and US Ambassador, Marcelle Wahba. UAE’s involvement in the re-construction of the war-stricken country will be determined by the decisions made during the meeting, Sa’ed said. He added that the UAE has already been aiding the Afghan people.
Regarding the situation in Palestine, Wahba briefed Sa’ed on the unfolding situation there and on the outcome of talks held between US envoy to the Middle East, Anthony Zinni with Israelis and Palestinians.
Wahba re-assured American support for an independent Palestine, to exist side by side with Israel, as said earlier by US Secretary of State Colin Powell . (Albawaba.com)
