ALBAWABA - Tensions escalated at the White House as U.S. President Donald Trump publicly rebuked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, criticizing his stance on the ongoing war with Russia and warning of potential consequences if Ukraine refuses a ceasefire. Reports later suggested that Trump ordered Zelensky to leave the White House following a heated exchange.

Ultimatum Over Mineral Agreement
During a joint press appearance, Trump presented Zelensky with a stark choice: either agree to a deal on Ukraine's mineral resources in exchange for U.S. security guarantees or risk losing Washington’s support. Following their meeting, Trump stated that Zelensky would be welcomed back to the White House only when he is ready to pursue peace.

Accusing Zelensky of a lack of respect, Trump chastised him for using a press briefing to challenge U.S. policy. He emphasized that Ukraine should show gratitude for America’s past support in its fight against Russia.

Trump’s Scathing Remarks: “You Are Gambling with World War III”
Trump did not hold back in his criticism, telling Zelensky: "Your country is in trouble, you are not winning the war, and you are gambling with World War III. You need to negotiate a deal, or we will pull out." He further reminded the Ukrainian leader that Kyiv has no leverage without U.S. backing.

Zelensky Pushes for Security Guarantees
In response, Zelensky insisted that Ukraine needs firm security guarantees rather than just a ceasefire. He expressed hope that a mineral resources agreement could serve as a step toward securing those guarantees and called on Trump to take a strong stance against Russian President Vladimir Putin. Later, he publicly thanked the U.S. government, saying, "Thank you for your support, for this visit, and to President Trump, Congress, and the American people."

Did Trump Order Zelensky to Leave?
According to reports from CNN and Fox News, the Ukrainian delegation left the White House earlier than scheduled after a tense argument. Sources claim that Trump explicitly ordered Zelensky to leave, with Fox News quoting White House officials saying, "Zelensky did not leave voluntarily but was told to depart by Trump."

The fallout from the incident drew mixed reactions. Republican Senator Mark Kelly criticized the episode, stating, "This makes us look weak on the global stage and achieves nothing." Meanwhile, Congresswoman Victoria Spartz defended Trump, accusing Zelensky of making a strategic mistake by prioritizing European support over U.S. relations.

As the diplomatic fallout continues, the incident raises questions about the future of U.S.-Ukraine relations and whether Trump's administration will shift its stance on military and financial aid to Kyiv.
