Tanks roll into Tripoli after attempted kidnapping of former Libyan PM

According to World Akhbar, tensions mounted in Tripoli as military vehicles and personnel rolled into Libya's capital city. 

Sources indicated that the sudden increase in military presence is due to a failed attempt to kidnap Ahmed Maiteeqformer controversial Prime Minister of Libya and current member of the Presidential Council. 

The attack killed at least one guard at Maiteeq's residence. 

The source told World Akhbar that Haitham Tajouri, the First Support Brigade Commander in the 2013 coup attempt was behind the attack. This has not been confirmed.

Locals indicate that militants are still present west of Tripoli. Armed forces have moved into the city, as well as tanks located in the Ghout Alshall area.

Clashes occurred between the national forces and Altajouri militants in Al Andalus area in Tripoli.
