ALBAWABA – The General Command for Military Operations in Syria announced the appointment of Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani as the Foreign Minister in the interim government on Saturday.
Born in 1987 in Hasakah province and a member of the Bani Shaiban tribe, Al-Shaibani later moved to Damascus with his family. He graduated from the University of Damascus in 2009 with a degree in English Language and Literature from the College of Arts and Humanities.
Al-Shaibani became actively involved in the Syrian revolution when it began in 2011. He played a key role in establishing the Syrian Salvation Government and founded the Department of Political Affairs. His contributions extended to the humanitarian sector, where he worked closely with the United Nations and its agencies to support humanitarian efforts in northwestern Syria.
In 2022, Al-Shaibani earned a master’s degree in Political Science and International Relations from a university in Turkey, further solidifying his expertise in diplomacy and international relations.
Al-Shaibani’s appointment signals a strategic move by the interim government to strengthen its political and diplomatic presence amid ongoing challenges in Syria. His extensive experience in political affairs and humanitarian coordination is expected to bolster Syria’s engagement with international bodies and address pressing regional concerns.
