The Syrian government has missed another deadline for destroying its chemical arsenal, according to the Associated Press.
Under the agreed-upon timetable brokered with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, Syria was supposed to remove its most toxic weapons before Dec. 31 last year. However, due to security delays, the OPCW gave Syria an extension until Feb. 5 to remove the weapons.
As of Feb. 5, only 4 percent of Syria's chemical stockpile has been removed, according to a U.S. diplomat source.
Syria is supposed to have its entire stockpile removed by the final deadline, June 30 this year, which the government confirmed was still possible despite the recent delays.
