Syrian President Bashar Assad’s wife, Asma Akhras made on Monday her first official public appearance since marrying Bashar more than two months ago, said reports.

Syrian Television showed the British-born wife with her husband greeting the Bulgarian president and his wife at Damascus Airport.

The couple have kept out of the spotlight since their family-only wedding in Damascus at the beginning of this year. The marriage was revealed in only a brief announcement in a government newspaper, and no official photos of the couple were released.

Asma, who holds a computer science degree from King's College, London, is the daughter of a wealthy Syrian cardiologist and long-time London resident, who belongs to a prominent family from Homs, some 160 kilometers from Damascus – Albawaba.com
