ALBAWABA - The suffering of the Sudanese people continues after the paramilitary forces announced full control of Al Fashir city in north Darfur. Thousands were able to flee, but dozens of thousands are still trapped inside the city, which is facing mass killings.
Al Fashir, the capital of Sudan’s North Darfur state, is currently experiencing a humanitarian crisis and a systematic policy of starvation that has contributed to the deaths of citizens, after the Rapid Support Forces militias destroyed the last hopes of the population, which were the charitable soup kitchens, and what remained of the markets and hospitals, thus doubling the suffering.
Humanitarian organizations still face severe restrictions and the risk of being killed while providing their services to the Sudanese citizens.
Given the horrible situation in Al Fashir, many residents are trying to leave the city, which is controlled by the RSF militia. However, all exits were closed for citizens, and those who are willing to leave must pay money.
Displaced people in the Northern State described their living conditions to Al-Araby Al-Jadeed as catastrophic, citing a severe lack of cash. Others reported that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) were separating those fleeing Al Fashir based on gender and ethnicity, detaining many for ransoms ranging from 5 million to 30 million Sudanese pounds (approximately between $8,312 and $49,000).
