Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), recently received 16 students from Dubai Men’s College, Higher Colleges of Technology, who visited the Traffic Engineering Department at the Authority. The visit comes in line with RTA’s commitment to acquaint the public with the latest traffic systems adopted in Dubai, as well as to highlight the projects and initiatives which are being developed to eliminate traffic congestion in the emirate.

The students made a field visit to study the traffic volume at Intersection 31 in Al Rashidiya and to familiarise themselves with the method for implementing traffic diversions. The students also attended a workshop at RTA’s offices, which gave them an opportunity to know more about the electronic counters that RTA uses to assess the volume of vehicles at intersections.

A presentation on the range of activities undertaken by the Authority was made by the Traffic Engineering Department, which also explained the role of the Department and highlighted the major projects implemented by RTA. The students were also provided by details on various traffic data collection methods and explained the technical aspects of the electronic counters.

Finally, the Traffic Engineering Department distributed mementos to the students.
