Contemporary jewelry designs incorporating precious stones are on display in Dubai, the Gulf News reported in its weekend issue, adding that new designs are gaining popularity locally, at the expense of traditional gold designs.
The five-day exhibition features 15 exhibitors, of which two are from the local market and the rest from India, the daily added.
S. Guruswamy, General Manager of India's Minerals and Metals Trading Corp in Dubai, told the paper that the exhibition features designs which meet the demand of the local market.
"The locals out here prefer chunky designs heavily studded with precious stones. Most of the exhibitors have been coming to this part of the world and displaying their designs, which makes them all the more aware of the trend," he said - Albawaba.com
