Director Oliver Stone has branded Buddhist actor Richard Gere "ridiculous" for voicing his opinions on the Chinese-Tibet

conflict.

The Natural Born Killers man criticized the American Pretty Woman actor for getting swept up in Hollywood's "unbalanced" portrayal of the controversial subject.

He says, "I think Gere is emotional about Tibet. Yeah, it's true

China has behaved badly in Tibet. But America behaved badly in

Tibet, too. And the Tibetans behaved badly.

"I care about Tibet. But there has to be more balance in the

movies. None of these films has dealt with the influence of the CIA

in Tibet. They were very provocative against China."

Stone, no stranger to controversy himself, also criticized

legendary director Martin Scorsese, claiming he was mistaken in making Kundun, his film about Buddhist spiritual leader the Dalai Lama’s early life.

He adds, "I love Martin as a film maker, but that was not his

best” – WENN.
