Iran said on Sunday it would not give up its nuclear rights, stressing its nuclear rights are not negotiable. Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi said "The Islamic Republic of Iran will not abandon its rights. It acts based on its responsibilities and duties, and in this respect it holds the initiative. "We will not negotiate on our rights. We will not give up our rights."

Asked about talks between Iran and the United States, he said, according to IRNA, "We welcome negotiations on an equal footing with no preconditions and no prejudgment."  The spokesman stressed, "It is not that Iran assesses negotiations as constructive under whatever circumstances and preconditions."
