Spanish security forces detained 203 suspected illegal immigrants on Tuesday who tried to enter Spain across the Strait of Gibraltar from north Africa, police said.
The immigrants, all of north African origin, made the journey in four boats which were intercepted by police and sea rescue services.
Several of them, exhausted and suffering from hypothermia, were given treatment by Red Cross staff.
On Monday 154 people were stopped after making the same journey across the 14 kilometer (8.5 mile) stretch of water that separates Europe and Africa -- a favorite crossing point for illegal immigrants -- ALGECIRAS, Spain (AFP)
