The Higher Israeli Arab Monitoring Committee on Saturday morning met in Nazareth to discuss appropriate responses to Thursday's Shfaram shootings, in which a Jewish settler opened fire on bus passengers, killing four Israeli Arabs.
At the end of three-hour meeting, the leaders decided to hold a demonstration next week which will be attended by representatives of the entire Arab sector in Israel.
They also called on the government not to investigate the lynching by local residents of the Jewish terrorist. Hadash-Ta'al Party Chairman MK Mohammed Barakeh said that the raging mob beat the soldier to death in order to prevent him from killing more innocent people.
Meanwhile, the leader of the southern branch of the Israeli Islamic Movement, Sheikh Ibrahim Sarsur, commented on a statement released by the Palestinian movement Hamas whereby it would avenge the Shfaram attack. Hamas "should keep to its own affairs and let the Arab public handle the matter," Sarsur said.
"Today we received further proof of the existence of Jewish terrorism, terror that is not carried out only by Arabs, Muslims or Palestinians," he went on to say.
