Satyam Computer Services Ltd. (NYSE:SAY) has been recognised by the Department of Civil Aviation, Dubai (DCA) for its outstanding services during 2005. The award was presented to Satyam during the DCA’s 8th Annual Supplier Forum held recently in Dubai.

Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Makhtoum, President of DCA, and Chairman of the Emirates Group, every year the DCA Suppliers Forum identifies organisations for their performance and cooperation in fulfilling the DCA and DDF requirements.

Satyam was awarded the project to re-engineer the Airport Billing System (ABS), replacing the existing FoxPro based applications with a web-based billing system and automated integration with Oracle Financials. The project was successfully completed within six months.

“Satyam is the first Indian IT organisation to receive this award, and we are very proud to be honoured by DCA,” said Virender Aggarwal, Senior Vice President and Director, Satyam Computers Services Ltd, Asia Pacific, Middle East, India and Africa.

The DCA’s legacy FoxPro based billing application primarily covered billing for aeronautical operation areas like landing, parking, aerobridge, passenger service charge, security charge and other miscellaneous areas of revenue billing. Satyam subsequently integrated this billing data into Oracle Financials.

The DCA is the governing body that manages operations of the Dubai International Airport and its affiliated divisions like the Dubai Cargo Village, Dubai Duty Free, Dubai International Hotel and Dubai Aviation Club.
