ALBAWABA - Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov asserted Russia's refusal of the accusations that chemical weapons were used in his country's war on Ukraine.
"We have seen the news about this. As always, such accusations sound completely baseless and unsubstantiated," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
The US claimed that Moscow had breached the Chemical Weapons Convention. The allegedly used chemical is Chloropicrin which is an oily choking chemical that was commonly used as tear gas during the first World War.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention classify it as a lung-damaging agent that can cause significant irritation to the skin, eyes, and respiratory systems.
The US State Department stated that the use of such chemicals is not a one-time incident and that Russia is probably behind using it in Ukraine to achieve tactical gains on the battlefield.
Meanwhile, Peskov assured that Russia will remain committed to abide by the International law. Moscow has signed and ratified the CWC, which outlaws the production and use of chemical weapons.
