Qatar's Population Increases by 10,077 in 2000

Population in Qatar last year recorded a natural increase of 10,077 as number of births rose to 11,250 registering an increase of 404 compared to 1999, reported the Gulf Times newspaper. 

Among Qataris, the number of baby boys born were 2,839 and baby girls were 2,773.  

Among non-Qataris, there were 2,899 baby boys and 2,739 baby girls. 

The statistics issued by the Planning Council said the number of deaths among Qataris in 2000 reached 1,173 including 352 males and 262 females, while deaths among non-Qataris were 427 males and 132 females – Albawaba.com
