ALBAWABA - As protesters showing their support for Palestine mounted a wild demonstration that culminated in the storming of a nearby KFC, tensions in Mirpur increased.
Reports from Mirpur state that the unrest started when a group of protestors—many of whom were irate youngsters and Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) activists—came upon the KFC location there. They started throwing rocks at the building and set it on fire.
Law enforcement and municipal officials intervened as tensions rose, with police using tear gas shelling to try to disperse the crowd. But the demonstrators suffered a great deal of injuries as a result of this activity.
Witnesses recounted chaotic scenes as demonstrators broke into the fast-food restaurant, causing confusion and fear among customers and employees as they chanted pro-Palestinian slogans. Local officials acted quickly to restore order and guarantee the safety of everyone involved in the incident.
The demonstration highlights the continued support that the world has for Palestine, especially in light of recent events in the area. Residents of Mirpur voiced alarm over the rising hostilities and demanded peaceful channels of communication and negotiation to resolve complaints.
