Place of writing in Morocco’s current cultural landscape discussed

The Franco-Moroccan Alliance of El Jadida organized on Saturday May 21 a round table on the topic: “What is the place of writing in the Moroccan cultural landscape of today?”

 

<i>EMarrakech</i> reports that in order to discuss this issue, and to evaluate the problems and positive aspects of writing, the Alliance has invited four leading personalities for this event.

 

These four included - Salim Jay, the author of the famous "Dictionary of Moroccan writers", Youssef Ouahboun, short story writer, Mohamed Nedali, writer and Abdelaziz Mouride, journalist and cartoonist. All of them presented their point of view concerning various issues such as publishing in Morocco, freedom of expression, the current position of the Moroccan writer in society and the interest of the Moroccan society in writing.
