Leader of the Palestinian police, Ghazi Jabali, said late Sunday that “Israel was pushing the Palestinian forces into violence in preparation for invading the Palestinian territories.”
In a telephone interview with Albawaba.com, Jabali charged that “the Israeli security forces are deliberately using live ammunition in the clashes, with the result that 36 Palestinians were killed and more than 1200 hurt.”
The top police officer said that his job “is to protect the Palestinian citizens and his men are ready for a cease-fire if Israel holds its fire.”
AFP reported that the Palestinians accepted a conditional cease-fire as of 5 p.m. local time Sunday.
