Palestinian demonstrators shot in the direction of Israeli troops in the northern West Bank town of Nablus during clashes with the Israeli army Saturday, but did not hit any of them, an AFP correspondent said.
The incident happened at the southern entrance to the town, near the Israeli military camp after a demonstration attended by about 10,000 people, said the agency.
According to the agency, the Palestinian police attempted to hold the demonstrators back, but several thousand managed to move towards the Israeli troops, the correspondent said.
Some were armed with Kalashnikovs and others had revolvers.
The shooting took place when the demonstrators were a few hundred meters (yards) from the army position.
Meanwhile, a Palestinian youth was declared clinically dead after being shot by a rubber-coated steel bullet in clashes with Israeli security forces Saturday in Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip, reported AFP, quoting a hospital official.
"Khaled Asuri, 17, was shot in the head by a rubber bullet, and we declared him clinically dead," Nasser Shalah, director of Shifa hospital in Gaza City told AFP.
In Gaza city, the Palestinian police forces and the Israeli troops have exchanged fire near the Israeli settlements of Netzarim and Kfar Drun south of Gaza city, according to Al Jazira satellite TV - (Several Sources)
