ALBAWABA - The Pakistani parliament has chosen Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) as the country's 24th prime minister.

Shehbaz Sharif is a Pakistani politician and businessman who served as the 23rd prime minister of Pakistan from April 2022 to August 2023.

Newly sworn-in lawmakers in the National Assembly in Pakistan picked Shehbaz Sharif to be the new prime minister by 201 votes, less than a month weeks after national elections were defaced by widespread allegations of rigging.

"Shehbaz Sharif has been declared to have been elected as prime minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan," the newly appointed speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said, according to AFP.
