A Palestinian National Authority (PNA) intelligence force shot dead on Friday a member of the Islamic Jihad in Gaza after a hot chase, eyewitnesses said. They added that the force that belongs to the military intelligence followed Khader Abu Sarhad, 30, and his colleague after they left from one of the mosques in Gaza City.

A police statement said that the two Islamic Jihad activists ran away into a car, and the security force followed them after they refused to stop. The force was intending to arrest them for questioning, Xinhua reported.

During the chase, the security officers opened fire at the car of the two activists, injuring them. One of the activists who was in critical condition died of his wounds shortly after at the Shifa Hospital in Gaza.

Islamic Jihad officials condemned the killing, adding that the aim of Islamic Jihad is not to fight the PNA, but to continue fighting the Israeli occupation. (Albawaba.com)
