One Saudi and two Egyptian men were beheaded in Saudi Arabia Sunday, after being found guilty of murder, the interior ministry said in two statements, carried by the official SPA news agency.

The Saudi, Ali bin Mohammed Meshrem, stabbed another Saudi, Mohammed bin Jabran bin Jahaf, to death over a land dispute. He was executed in the south-western Jizan region, the first statement said.

The Egyptians, Said Mahmud Ibrahim Naqrish and Hassan Ibrahim Mohammed, were executed in the western region of Medina, also for stabbing to death a Saudi, Mansur bin Salem bin Ajaj al-Anzi, after an argument, the second statement reported.

The executions bring to at least 98 the number beheaded in the kingdom since the beginning of the year, according to a tally kept by AFP from official statements.

Saudi Arabia imposes the death penalty, normally carried out by decapitation by sword, on people found guilty of murder, rape, apostasy, armed robbery, drug trafficking and repeated drug offences -- RIYADH (AFP)
