ALBAWABA- The emergency ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers, held in Jeddah to address the ongoing Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip, concluded with a strong call for international action.

In its final communiqué, the OIC urged the United Nations Security Council to convene an emergency session to address the attacks, while voicing support for mediation efforts led by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States to secure an immediate ceasefire.

The statement condemned Israel’s continued intransigence and refusal to engage in truce efforts, warning that such a stance worsens the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

It further demanded the opening of border crossings to allow the safe and unrestricted flow of humanitarian aid, ensuring relief agencies, particularly UNRWA, can operate freely.

The ministers rejected recent remarks by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on what he termed the “Greater Israel Vision,” describing them as dangerous and irresponsible.

They also underscored the importance of enabling the Palestinian government to assume its responsibilities across all occupied Palestinian territories.

The OIC strongly condemned the targeting and killing of journalists and media workers in Gaza, calling it a blatant violation of international and humanitarian law and urging accountability for those responsible.

The Jeddah meeting took place amid a sharp escalation of Israeli military operations in Gaza, as the organization seeks to unify Islamic positions, intensify international pressure to halt the aggression, and ensure urgent humanitarian relief for besieged civilians.
